Larry (Schu)Schuler, a fourth generation member of the Schuler’s Restaurant family, followed the long-standing tradition of ‘working’ at the restaurant since childhood and has been involved in the restaurant industry ever since.
Encouraged by his grandfather, Win Schuler, and father, Hans, Larry pursued a broad, well-rounded work experience in the field of hospitality management. In 1982, he joined the Robert Mondavi Winery in Napa, California where he learned the wine making process and business. Larry was then employed as part of the start-up team for the then new Westin Hotel Galleria, serving as restaurant manager in three theme restaurants and as Assistant Food and Beverage Manager for the 440-room luxury hotel.
Larry returned to Michigan in 1986 and served as Vice President and General Manager of Schuler’s in Marshall, MI and subsequently as owner and operator of Schu’s Grill and Bar in St. Joseph.
As President of Schu’s Hospitality Group, LLC, one of his projects involved providing management and strategic development of the food operations and staff to Dearborn, Michigan client The Henry Ford’s $16 million dining experiences, propelling The Henry Ford to the forefront of Detroit’s rapidly growing food movement.
Larry is a former Chairman of the Michigan Restaurant Association and Pacesetter United Way. He is a winner of “Michigan’s Make a Difference” Citizen Award. Larry served as a trustee of the Berrien Community Foundation. He remains an active and passionate fundraiser for the American Cancer Society after losing his wife, Molly, to a ten-year battle with cancer.
Larry Schuler has three children, Jenna, Kaitlin and Robby and is married to Christa whose children are Paige and Taylor Dickerson. Larry now lives in Tampa, Florida, where he works as an executive in 23 Restaurant Services, LLC, a hospitality focused restaurant company.
23 Restaurants designs, builds, manages, and operates unique restaurant brands, and they are committed to building brands that are focused on providing an innovative dining experience with high quality food for their guests. In his role as Vice President of Supply Chain Management, he is responsible for all procurement of food, beverage, equipment and materials, and for managing contracts and agreements. Additionally, he serves as the corporate conduit for franchise communication and brand equity, with a strategic brand development focus on Ford’s Garage Prime Burger and Craft Beers. He serves on the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association Board of Directors.
He also now serves on the Schuler’s Restaurant Advisory Board.
